Checking a car
Paste the listing URL from wherever you found the car, or type the VIN off the windshield or door jamb. Either one produces the same report.
Reading the safety section
Open recalls, NHTSA crash-test ratings, and owner complaint counts, decoded from the VIN. Recalls are free to fix at a franchised dealer.
The price comparison
Vinrack places the asking price against active listings for the same make, model, year, and a comparable mileage band, and shows the percentile.
Dealer scores
A weighted average of published reviews from Google, Cars.com, BBB, and DealerRater, shown with the sources and review counts behind it.
Nearby dealers
Allow location and Vinrack surfaces dealers near you first. You can decline and still check any listing or VIN.
Face ID lock
Optionally lock the app behind your device biometrics. Your face or fingerprint data never leaves your device.
Privacy
Your account and check history live in your private Firebase account. We don't run ads, sell your data, or track you across apps.
Delete your data
Delete your account from settings to remove your profile and check history, plus your sign-in record.
Frequently asked questions
What does a free Vinrack report include?+
The vehicle decoded from its VIN, open safety recalls, NHTSA crash-test ratings, owner complaint counts, EPA fuel economy, where the asking price sits against comparable active listings, and the selling dealer's review score with its sources. That is the free report.
Is Vinrack a replacement for CARFAX?+
No. Vinrack does not report title history, so it will not tell you whether a car was salvaged, flooded, rebuilt, or had its odometer wound back. For that you still want a title history report. Vinrack covers the safety record, the price context, and the dealer, which those reports don't.
How is the dealer score calculated?+
It is a weighted average of published review ratings collected from Google, Cars.com, BBB, and DealerRater. Platforms with very few reviews carry less weight. The app shows you the sources and the counts, and it deliberately does not write a verdict about a dealership. A dealer with only one source shows as limited data instead of a score.
A dealer's score looks wrong to me. What now?+
Email support@moetalaat.com with the dealership name and what you're seeing. The score is arithmetic on public reviews, so if a source was matched to the wrong business or a platform is missing, that's a bug worth fixing.
What is the paid report?+
An optional deeper dossier built on licensed market data: fuller price history across dealers and a longer market comparison than the free report. The free report is not time-limited and does not expire when you skip the paid one.
Do I have to share my location?+
No. Location is optional and used only while the app is in use, to show dealers near you first. You can decline and still check any listing or VIN.
Does Vinrack store my Face ID?+
No. If you turn on the app lock, authentication happens entirely on your device through Apple Face ID / Touch ID or Android biometrics. Your biometric data never leaves your phone and is never sent to us.
How do I sign in?+
With Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. Apple can relay a private email address if you prefer.
Is there a subscription?+
Vinrack offers a subscription and one-off paid reports, sold through the App Store or Google Play and managed via RevenueCat. Manage or cancel anytime from your store account settings, and refunds go through the respective store.
How do I delete my account?+
Open the app's settings and choose to delete your account. This removes your profile and check history from our backend and deletes your authentication record. The action is irreversible.
