No. Fate works with any tarot deck — Rider-Waite, Marseille, Thoth, indie decks, anything. The AI identifies the card from your photo and interprets it using standard tarot symbolism.

Your card photo is resized on your device and sent to a Firebase Cloud Function. The function passes the photo to OpenAI's vision model (currently gpt-4o-mini) along with your direction (upright or reversed) and any intention you typed in. The model writes a 3–5 paragraph interpretation, which streams back to your phone as it's generated.

Yes — every reading you generate is saved automatically to your private Firestore collection so you can look back at it. The card photo lives in Firebase Storage under your user ID, and only you (signed in to your account) can read it.

No. Submissions through OpenAI's API are not used to train OpenAI's models, per their API data usage policy. The photo is sent only when you tap to generate a reading, and only to produce that reading.

Try again with a sharper, more centered photo (the card should fill most of the frame, lit clearly, no other cards in the shot). If it's still wrong, that's a limitation of the AI's vision model — let me know which card and what it was called so I can improve the prompt.

In Fate, left-to-right gives you the traditional / upright interpretation. Right-to-left gives you the reversed / shadow-work reading — same card, deeper or inverted meaning. Toggle the direction before tapping Generate.

Not in v1. Fate is currently iPhone only and requires iOS 17 or later. Android may come later if there's demand.

Open Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete account. You'll be asked to type DELETE MY ACCOUNT to confirm. Once you do, every reading, every uploaded photo, your user document, and your authentication record are removed permanently.

Fate is currently free. If paid features arrive later, you'll see them clearly in-app before any purchase.
