Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Mapsy ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please don't use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to create an account in Mapsy. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. What Mapsy Is

Mapsy is a US geography learning app for iPhone and Android. It teaches all 50 US states through quiz modes built on one engine: locating states on a map, picking their silhouettes, matching states to capitals, tapping states from memory, and a mixed mastery mode. It also includes a free-roam map you can tap to explore and per-state pages with shapes, flags, and facts. The App is offline-first: the core learning experience works without an account and without a network connection. Signing in is optional and only syncs your progress across your own devices.

4. Educational Content, Provided As Is

Mapsy is for learning and personal practice. We work to keep the geographic content (state names, shapes, capitals, and facts) accurate, but it is provided for educational purposes and is not a substitute for an authoritative reference in academic, legal, or official contexts. If accuracy matters for a serious purpose, verify against a primary source.

5. Your Account

You can use the entire core app with no account. If you choose to sign in to sync across devices, you can do so with Apple, Google, or email and password. You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

Mapsy is free to start. Without a purchase you get the first levels of the core modes (locate on map, pick the shape, and state to capital), a preview level of the Pro-only modes, and five hearts per level.

Mapsy Pro unlocks all 10 levels across every mode, the tap-to-locate and mixed mastery modes in full, and unlimited hearts. Pro is offered in three options through the Apple App Store and Google Play:

Exact prices are shown on the paywall inside the App and are set per store and region. Billing is handled by Apple or Google under their standard terms: for the auto-renewing options, payment is charged at confirmation of purchase and renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time from your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. The lifetime option is a single non-recurring purchase. Purchases can be restored on a new device. Refunds are handled by the app store per its policy.

Prices and the exact split between free and Pro content may change. Material changes will be reflected in the App and here before they take effect for new billing periods.

8. Intellectual Property

The App's code, design, copy, and brand, along with its state artwork and content, are the property of the developer or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial use.

The App relies on the following third-party services:

Your use of these services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for outages, data loss, or behavior of these third parties beyond our control.

10. Privacy

Your use of Mapsy is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect (very little) and how the offline-first model works.

11. Data Deletion

If you never sign in, deleting the App removes your local progress and there is no server copy. If you have an account, you can delete it from Settings, which irreversibly removes your synced progress and your authentication record.

12. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We don't guarantee that Mapsy will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its content is free of mistakes.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mapsy and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of progress or service interruptions.

14. Modifications

We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced on this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you breach these Terms or abuse the backend services. You can terminate at any time by deleting your account or the App.
